Perk Pups Soccer 2011

Welcome to Perk Pups Soccer

Special thanks to Wash Perk for sponsoring us and making Perk Pups a reality! In it's third year (can you believe it), Perk Pups Soccer is a cooperative soccer team founded and run by parents. We have about 30 kids from the Wash Park area participating. PerkPups Soccer runs during the Fall season only (September and October), we meet on Saturdays at 10am. Please see the Schedule/Location below for updates. Most of the kids are in the 2.5 to 5 year range. Cost is $20 and includes a Perk Pups jersey, team picture, and party/celebration at the end of the season. Schedule - 2011 Fall Season

New Coaches (usually 3 total), and Snack Coach (1 or 2) for the next week will volunteer at the end of each week's practice. Coaches select drills (makes up new drills if they like) and set up for the day. Snack Coach brings treats for the pups. We will typcially break up into 3 or 4 groups of around 7 pups for drills. We will bring the soccer nets, tent, and cones each week. Each pup should bring a soccer ball and a bottle of water.

Drills / Activities

Name		Description

Shark and Minows		Form groups of 5 to 6 balloons on the ground. Line pup up ~ 5 feet from the balloons and have them kick the ball (shark) at the balloons (minows) to make them scatter. May need 3 or 4 groups of balloons to keep the sharks happy.

Snake in the Grass		Set 4 or so cones up in a line with a ball and goal at one end and the pup at the other. Have the pup run serpentine through the cones to the ball, stop and kick it toward the goal.

The Tornado		Pair up with your pup and pass the ball back and forth while slowly jogging forward. Key is to pass the ball a little in front of your pup, have them kick it, and keep moving. It is difficult to control the trajectory of the passing, usually ending up in a circular toronado-like pattern.

Cookies and Milk		If we are lucky, some pups owner will bring some type of delicious treats to keep everyone well fueled!

Elephant and Sea Lion		Pair pups up in groups of two standing ~ 5 feet from each other and have them pass the ball back and forth (between the elephant and sea lion).

Worm in the Hole		Line pup up with the ball ~ 3 feet in front of the green tunnel. Let the pup kick the ball (worm) into the tunnel (hole). If they are lucky, they will see the worm come out the other side. Variation: Have another pup at the other end of the hole and kick the worm back and forth.

The Garanimal		Pair pup up with a non-parental unit and kick the ball back and forth at a reasonable distance. Mix and match pup/parental unit combinations every 5 kicks or so.

Humpty Dumpty		Circle the pups each about 5 feet from a cone, place a ball on the cone. Each pup takes a turn kicking their ball and trying to knock to ball off the cone.
