Beat the margarine and brown sugar until fluffy. Add the egg, maple and salt. Beat well and add the flour. Cover and chill the dough for 1 hour. Divide the dough into 8 parts. On a lightly floured surface roll each part into a rope 1/2 inch diameter. Cut into logs about 1 1/2 inches long. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 for 8-10 minutes. Remove and cool. Frost.
