Mix margarine and cheese with hands. Add flour (go light on flour), baking powder, salt and pepper. Form into two or three logs. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate.
Slice logs in 1/4 inch slices.
Bake slowly at 350 degrees 15 to 20 minutes. Don't let it get too brown. WATCH them.
Let cool. Store in tins. Separate with waxed paper between layers of cheese straws in tin.
