     Beef Yakitori (Japanese)

Category   Appetizers
Sub Category   None
Servings   6

1/2 cup soy sauce
2 Tbl lemon juice
2 Tbl sugar
1 garlic clove, crushed
1/2 tsp ground ginger
2 Tbl vegetable oil
1 tsp sesame seeds
2 green onions, finely chopped
1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced

In a 9x5 loaf pan, combine soy sauce, lemon juice, sugar, garlic, ginger, oil, sesame seeds and onions. Thread meat on 18-20 six-inch bamboo skewers by pushing a skewer in and out of each meat slice as though sewing.
Place skewered meat in marinade, turning to coat all sides. Cover and refrigerate in marinade for 3-4 hours; drain.
Arrange marinated skewered meat on a broiler pan or ungreased baking sheet with raised sides. Preheat broiler if necessary. Place oven rack 5-8 inches from heating element. Broil meat 1 1/2 - 2 mins; turn and broil about 1 min longer. Serve hot.
Makes 18-20 appetizer servings.
