Put 1c raisins in pan and pour 1c boiling water over them and let cool. In another bowl put 1c light brow sugar, lheaping tbs shortening, 1/2tsp salt. Mix well, then add 1 egg, mix as cake, add 1tsp baking soda to raisin and stir. Add 1/2 raisin and liquid to sugar mixture. add 1c flour and mix well.

Add rest of raisin and liquid and 1 more cup of flour. Grease tin cans well, corn or bean cans fill 1/2 full, shake down in can well. Put in 325 over for 1 hour. Makes 3 loaves. The is very good and moist. When done let stand for 10 minutes and turn over, bread will fall out.
