     Apple roll

Ingredients
1c sugar/water
1 1/2c flour
3tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3Tbs shortening
1/2c milk
2c peeled and chopped apples
1/2c sugar
1tsp cinnamon
 
3T soft butter

Instructions
Mix sugar and water. Heat to boiling point. pour into a round 8inch layer cake pan or oblong pan. Sift flour, baking powder and salt 3 times. Cut shortening into dry ingredients until mixtue resembles the texture of corn meal.
Add milk and stir until soft dough is formed. Put dough on a lightly floured board and knead lightly. Roll dough into a rectangle 8x10 inches. Cover dough with apples, sprinle sugar and cinnamon over the top and dot with butter or margarine. Starting with one of the long edges, roll. Cut into 6 even slices. Bake at 425 for 25 minutes.
