Melt butter; put half into a small bowl and stir in bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. Brush tomato slices with remaining butter; dip in crumb and cheese mixture.
You can sprinkle top with basil, oregano or parsley.
Arrange on broiler rack covered with greased aluminum foil. Broil 5 to 6 inches below heat until lightly browned. Turn with a spatula and brown the other side.
Broiled Parmesan tomatoes serves 6.
