Cream butter and sugars. Add beaten eggs and vanilla. Add flour, soda, & salt. Stir into creamed mixture. Add chocolate chips. If making cookies, bake at 325 for 12 minutes. Cookies appear light but will continue to bake after removed from oven.
If making bars, pour into greased 9x13 or jellyroll pan. Bake until finished in center.
