     Slab Apple Cake

Ingredients
3 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3 Tbls. sugar
1tsp. baking powder
1 cup soft shortening
3 egg yolks
8 or more Tbls. water
Filling-
10-12 apples pared and sliced
 
1/2-2 cups sugar
1tsp. cinnamon
2 Tbls. flour
Glaze-
2 cups powdered sugar
2 Tbls. soft butter
4 tsp.or more warm water

Instructions
Mix dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. In separate bowl mix eggs and water. Add to flour mixture and mix well. Divide in half. Roll out 1 ball and cover jelly roll pan.
Layer apple filling over bottom crust. Dot with butter. Roll out second ball of dough and cover the apple filling.
Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Test apples for doneness. Mix together ingredients for glaze and spoon over cake. Enjoy.
