Ingredients
1 cup butter, margarine or shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cup flour
2 tsp cream of tarter
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
2 tbsp sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
 

Instructions
Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix butter, 1 1/2 cups of sugar and eggs thoroughly. I use all butter although the recipe calls for part shortening. That may be too buttery for some. I also chill the dough for about 10 min to firm up. I also think they cookies may cook quicker or could be my oven. I cook them for 6-7 min in my convection oven.
Blend flour, cream of tarter, baking soda and salt in separate bowl. Slowly stir flour mixture into butter mixture.
Shape dough in 1 inch balls. Roll in mixture of 2 tbsp of sugar and 2 tsp of cinnamon.
Bake 8 - 10 minutes. These cookies puff up at first then flatten out. Makes 6 dozen cookies
