     Basic Cake Recipe

Ingredients
1 cup butter (2 sticks - at room temp.)
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
3 cups flour
3 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
 
Instructions
Cream butter, add sugar, gradually add wet and dry ingredients. Grease pans and divide evenly. Level pans by dropping evenly flat on table. Bake 25-30 minutes. Cool in pans 5-10 minutes. Invert onto cooling racks.
