     Ginger Balls - or Ginger Crinkles

Ingredients
3/4 Cup butter flavored Crisco shortening
1 Cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1/4 Cup molasses
2 Cups Flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon or a little less of ground ginger
 
Extra granulated sugar for rolling cookie dough in

Instructions
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and molasses. Blend. Add baking soda and all spices. Blend. Add flour 1 cup at a time. Blend.
Put 1 cup of sugar in a cereal or other low-sided bowl. Form dough into balls the size of large walnuts. Using a spoon to toss, roll cookies balls in granulated sugar until well coated. Place on un- greased cookie sheets or cookie sheets lined with parchment paper 2 -3 inches apart. Do not press down.
Bake @ 350 12-15 minutes. Cookies should have a puffy rise to them and the rise should be somewhat set before removing from oven. You can experiment with the cooking time to see how crisp you like the cookies.
