     Strawberry Glaze Pie

Ingredients
1 10-inch baked pie shell
1 1/2 quarts of strawberries
1 cup sugar
3 tbsps. cornstarch
1/2 cup water
1 tbsp. butter or margarine
2 tbsps. grenadine (See note below.)
1 cup whipping cream, whipped
2 tbsps. powdered sugar
 

Instructions
Crush enough berries to make one cup. Combine sugar & cornstarch. Add crushed berries & water.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil. Continue cooking & stirring over a low heat for 2 min. The mixture will be thickened & translucent.
Remove from heat & stir in butter & grenadine. Cool. Place whole berries in pie shell, reserving a few choice ones for garnishing. Pour cooked mixture over berries & chill at least 2 hours.
(Note- The grenadine is an optional ingredient, it does give added sweetness and red color that early season berries might need.)
Serving Suggestions
Serve topped with whipped cream sweetened with powdered sugar. Garnish with remaining berries.
