     Crockpot Beef and Broccoli

Ingredients
1 1/2 pounds beef sirloin, cut into 1/2-by-2-inch slices, or 11/2 pounds lean stew beef
1/4 cup teriyaki sauce or soy sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon finely minced fresh ginger, or 1 teaspoon ground dried ginger
1 teaspoon minced garlic, about 1 large clove
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, optional
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
1 16-ounce package fresh broccoli florets, or 3-4 cups fresh broccoli florets
 
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Hot cooked white or brown rice, for serving

Instructions
Combine beef, broth, teriyaki sauce, brown sugar, ginger, garlic and red pepper flakes, if desired, in slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
Twenty to 45 minutes before serving, whisk the cornstarch and water together in a small bowl. Stir this mixture and the broccoli into the cooker. Cover and cook until the broccoli is tender. Taste and add salt and pepper as needed. Serve over the rice. Makes 6 servings.
Serving Suggestions
add water chestnuts, peanuts, baby corn, onion, carrots if you like
