     Swedish 3-Layer Bars

Ingredients
First Layer-
1 cup softened butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup cornstarch
2 cups flour
pinch of salt
Second Layer-
4 eggs
4 Tablespoons flour
 
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 pound light brown sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups chopped pecans
8 oz. shredded coconut
Third Layer-
8 oz. softened cream cheese
1/4 cup softened margarine or butter
1 pound confectioner's sugar

Instructions
First Layer- Mix butter, sugar, cornstarch, flour, and salt together and press into a greased 9/13 inch pan. Bake 15 minutes at 300 degrees. Set aside to cool while you make the next layer.
Second Layer- Mix together the eggs, flour, baking powder, brown sugar, vanilla, pecans, and coconut and spread over the baked first layer. Bake at 300 degrees for 15 minutes; turn heat up to 350 degrees and bake for an additional 5 minutes. Let cool while you prepare the top layer.
Third Layer- Using a beater, mix together cream cheese, margarine or butter, and sugar. Spread on top of the first two baked layers. Bake about 1 hour at 350 degrees - edges will be lightly browned. Cool. Cut into bars approximately 1 inch square.
