Mix together butter, salt, sugar and vanilla. Add flour and pecans and mix well. Chill if desired. Shape into small balls. Place on baking sheet Press small hole with finger tip in middle of each cookie. Put small dab of jam in each hole. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 min.
