     Beef and Cheddar Macaroni Casserole

Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 large onion, chopped
2 Tablespoons butter or margarine
1 jar (15 1/2 ounces) ragu spaghetti sauce
1 package (8 ounces) elbow macaroni, cooked and drained
1 1/2 cups (6 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese
1 can (4 ounces) sliced mushrooms, drained
1 teaspoon basil
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
 
1/2 teaspoon oregano
salt to taste
pepper to taste

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large skillet, thoroughly brown beef; remove meat and set aside. In the same skillet, saute onion in butter until onion is translucent; drain fat. In a large bowl, combine beef, sauteed onion, spaghetti sauce, macaroni, 1 cup cheese, mushrooms, basil, garlic powder, oregano, salt and pepper. Spoon into an 11 x 7 inch baking dish. Bake, covered, 20 minutes or until bubbly. Evenly sprinkle with 1/2 cup cheese; bake 5 minutes or until cheese melts.
