     CAN DO COOKIE DOUGH

Ingredients
2 eggs
3 1/2 C Gold Medal flour (regular or wondra)
2/3 c shortening
2/3 c butter or margarine (softened)
2 tsp baking powders
1 1/2 c sugar
1 tsp salt
2 tsp vanilla
 
There are other ingredients in the additional recipes

Instructions
Heat oven to 375'F Beat eggs slightly with mixer in large bowl Add remaining ingredients & blend on low speed about 30 seconds Mix on medium speed until ingredients are well blended & gathers together 3 minutes Form dough into a ball with hands. (If dough does not hold together, add 2 tbsp cream) Cut in 2 equal parts Prepare any of the following cookies CAN DO - CHIPPERS 1/2 Can Do cookie dough 1/2c chopped nuts 1 pkg(6 oz)semisweet chocolate or butterscotch pieces Mix all ingredients & Press dough into ungreased 13 x 9 x 2 pan Bake 20 to 25 minutes Cut into bars or diamonds while warm Can be drizzled with a chocolate glaze or frosted as desired. Makes about 42 bars CAN DO CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 1/2 Can Do cookie dough 2/3c brown sugar(packed) 2 tbsp water 1 pkg(6 oz) semisweet chocolate pieces 1 c chopped nuts Mix all ingredients & Drop dough by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheet Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until delicately browned Makes about 4 dozen
CAN DO DOUGH CINNAMON BALLS 1/2 Can Do cookie dough 1/3c finely chopped pecans 2tbsp sugar 2tbsp cinnamon Mold dough into 1in. balls Roll in mixture of nuts sugar & cinnamon Place 2in. apart on ungreased baking sheet Bake 8 to 10 minutes Makes about 3 dozen Thumb prints Mold dough & dip into 1 egg white slightly beaten Roll in 3/4c finely chopped nuts Press thumb in center of each cookie Bake & cool Fill indentation with jelly or gumdrops Makes about 3 dozen CAN DO DOUBLE CHOCOLATE COOKIES 1/2 Can Do cookie dough 2 sq(2 oz) unsweetened chocolate melted & cooled 1 pkg 6 oz) semisweet chocolate pieces 1/4c water 1/4c sugar Mix all ingredients Drop dough by heaping teaspoonfuls on to ungreased baking sheet Bake about 12 minutes If desired frost with vanilla cherry butterscotch or chocolate icing decorate Makes 4 dozen
CAN DO PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES 1/2 Can Do cookie dough 2/3c peanut butter Mix dough & peanut butter thoroughly Mold dough into 1in. balls Place about 2in. apart on ungreased baking sheet Flatten with fork Bake about 12 minutes or until set but not hard If desired frost with a chocolate icing or put 2 cookies together with jam just before serving Makes 3 dozen CAN DO PECAN REFRIGERATOR COOKIES 1/2 Can Do cookie dough 1c chopped pecans Mix dough & pecans thoroughly Shape dough into two 7in. rolls wrap in waxed paper Chil1 2 hours or until firm enough to slice then slice about 1/8in. thick Bake 10 minutes or until slightly browned If desired put 2 cookies together with currant jelly Makes about 6 dozen Note- Dough can be rolled in additional chopped pecans decorators sugar or nonpareils before chilling
CAN DO SUGAR COOKIES 1/2 Can Do cookie dough Decorators sugars or cookie paint(below) Roll dough 1/8in. thick on floured surface Cut dough with 2 to 3in cutters Place on ungreased baking sheet sprinkle with sugar Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown Makes 3 1/2 dozen. COOKIE PAINT In small custard cups, tint small amounts of evaporated milk with food colors Apply with small fine tipped paintbrush If preferred, paint may be applied after baking Note Instead of sugars or cookie paint cookies can be baked & then frosted with colored icings & decorated
