Cream butter and sugar, blend in eggs and beat well at low speed. Add dry ingredients alternately with pumpkin beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Stir in chips and pecans. Sprinkle top of loaf with 1/4 cup pecans (1/2 cup of pecans goes into the batter for the loaf). Bake in a 9 x 6 inch loaf pan, at 350 degrees 65 to 75 minutes.
