Mix sugar, corn syrup, water and salt in 1 1/2 quart casserole. Cook on High in microwave 20-22 minutes, stirring once or twice. In a large mixing bowl, while syrup cooks, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gradually pour hot mixture over egg whites, beating at high speed until mixture thickens and candy starts to lose its gloss. This may take about 12 minutes. Add vanilla and nuts. Drop by teaspoons onto waxed paper. Store in airtight container.
