     Pigs in Blankets

Ingredients
4 cups flour
2 2/3 Tbsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp salt
3 Tbsp sugar
5 Tbsp shortening
water or milk for desired consistency
24 link pork sausages (or canned vienna sausages)
 

Instructions
Mix dough as for biscuits. Pinch off small pieces of dough and flatten into strips or elongated patties. Wrap each sausage link (which has been seared in a hot skillet) in a strip of dough. Knead the sides of the dough together so that the sausage is completely covered. Cook in a reflector oven or on a pointed stick. Pigs in blankets may also be cooked indoors in a hot oven. Be sure the sausage is completely cooked.
When cooked in foil in embers (about 15 minutes), pigs in blankets are known as Coal Dogs.
