3 lbs round steak cut in small pieces, trimmed of fat, about 1 inch by 1/4 inch thick
8 small onions, peeled and sliced
8 partially boiled tomatoes, if desired, sliced 1/4 inch thick
24 strips bacon, cut in squares
24 rolls or bread for sandwiches
Instructions
Place pieces of steak, onion, bacon, and tomato alternately on sticks, pushing them down the stick and leaving a little space between pieces. Ingredients may be divided and half cooked at one time so that everyone has seconds. Repeat in same order. Sear quickly all over by holding close to coals. Then cook slowly a little away from coals, turning until done.
Frankfurter Kabobs- Alternate pieces of frankfurter, canned white potatoes, small whole onions.
Ham Kabobs- Alternate ham cubes, canned sweet potatoes and pineapple chunks.
Liver Kabobs- Use small pieces of liver (beef, lamb or calf) and pieces of bacon.
Oyster Kabobs- Use oysters and pieces of bacon.
