Cream together the butter, oil and sugars; add egg and beat well. Sift together the dry ingredients and add to first mixture, add vanilla and mix well. Chill dough. Roll into balls the size of a walnut. Place about 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Use a glass coated with butter, dipped in sugar and press each cookie slightly. Bake at 375 degrees for 7 minutes or until brown.
