     Coffee Can Stew

6 carrots
12 stalks of celery
12 strips of bacon
3 lbs ground beef
6 medium size potatoes
6 onions, sliced
6 medium size tomatoes
salt and pepper
3 small green peppers

For 2 servings- AT HOME...Wash, peel and cut 1 carrot in half lengthwise; cut 2 celery stalks in 2 inch pieces and cut 2 bacon strips in half. Mold 1/2 lb of beef into 2 meat patties; slices 1 onion, 1 potato, and 1 tomato. Place 2 pieces of bacon on bottom of can; add 1 layer of onon, ground beef, more onions, pepper, tomatoes, celery, potatoes, carrots, more onions, and salt and pepper, etc. If can is not full, place enough crinkled wax paper to fill balance of coffee can and close. Label on strip of masking tape to show name and/or contents of can.
ON THE SITE...Build fire and let it butn to embers. Remove wax paper from can; place closed coffee can on embers for 25 minutes (open lid and check in 10 minutes). If it seems to be browning too rapidly, pour 2 Tbsp of water in can.
