     Cranberry Bread

Ingredients
2 c. sifted flour
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1/4 c. shortening
3/4 c. orange juice
1 egg
1/2 c. chopped nuts
 
1-2 c. coarsely chopped cranberries

Instructions
1. Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal.
2. Combine OJ and egg. Pour into dry ingredients, mixing to dampen. Fold in nuts and cranberries.
3. Spoon into greased loaf pan. (9x5x3) Spread corners and slides slightly higher than center.
4. Bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hour or until golden. Toothpick test should be clean.
