     Butter Toffee Brunch Cake

Ingredients
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 cup buttermilk
1 t soda
1 egg
1 t vanilla
6 heath English toffee candy bars, finely crushed
 
1/4 cup chopped nuts
12 cup reserved dry ingredients (from cake directions)

Instructions
To Make Cake- preheat oven to 350. Butter well and lightly flour a 9x13 inch baking pan. Cream butter thoroughly. Add sugars gradually, beating well after each addition. Blend in flour and mix well. Remove 1/2 cup of crumb mixture and set aside for Topping use. To the remainder of the mixture, add buttermilk, soda, egg, and vanilla. Beat until completely blended. Pour batter into prepared pan and sprinkle topping evenly over surface. Bake at 350 for 35 to 40 minutes.
To make topping- crush finely 6 heath English toffee candy bars. Mix crushed candy with chopped nuts and reserved 1/2 cup dry mixture. Proceed as directed above.
