     Lynn Bourgeois Bread and Butter Pickles

4 Qts. sliced cucumbers ( 16 Cups)
8 medium onions sliced
1/3 c pickling salt
3 cloves of garlic, halved
Cracked ice
4 cups sugar
3 cups cider vinegar
2 Tbls mustard seeds
1 1/2 tsp. ground turmeric
1 1/2 tsp celery seed

Combine cucumbers, onions, pickling salt and garlic. Ad 2 inches of cracked ice. Cover and refrigerate for 3- 12 hours. Drain mixture and remove garlic.
In kettle combine sugar, vinegar,mustard seeds, turmeric and celery seeds. Bring to a boil, add cucumber mixture and liquid in hot sterlized pint jars. Boil in hot bath for 10 minutes.
