Instructions
This is not a recipe but just some tips I use to lower the calories and fat in recipes. 1. Use low-fat mayo or miracle whip in deviled eggs. Don't use the fat-free. It tastes yucky! 2. Use fat free cool whip for toppings on pies. 3. Use low-fat milk in cream pies made with puddings. Don't use skim -- they don't set up very well. 4. Use low-fat cream cheese in recipes. Don't use fat-free. It doesn't set up well. 5. Everyone makes stuffing differently. The one I make calls for a stick of butter. I leave the butter out. It doesn't taste any different. No one knows the difference. 6. Use low-fat sour cream in dips. The fat-free doesn't taste as good and people will notice. 7. When you make whipped potatoes, use skim or low-fat milk and add a bit of fat-free sour cream. You can also add butter-flavoring (in the spice aisle, by the vanilla, etc) to get that 'buttery' taste without the added fat and calories.
8. Use egg beaters for recipes that call for beaten eggs. You can't tell the difference.
