This is not a recipe but just some tips I use to lower the calories and fat in recipes.
1. Use low-fat mayo or miracle whip in deviled eggs. Don't use the fat-free. It tastes yucky!
2. Use fat free cool whip for toppings on pies.
3. Use low-fat milk in cream pies made with puddings. Don't use skim -- they don't set up very well.
4. Use low-fat cream cheese in recipes. Don't use fat-free. It doesn't set up well.
5. Everyone makes stuffing differently. The one I make calls for a stick of butter. I leave the butter out. It doesn't taste any different. No one knows the difference.
6. Use low-fat sour cream in dips. The fat-free doesn't taste as good and people will notice.
7. When you make whipped potatoes, use skim or low-fat milk and add a bit of fat-free sour cream. You can also add butter-flavoring (in the spice aisle, by the vanilla, etc) to get that 'buttery' taste without the added fat and calories.
