     Whole Grain Jam Squares

2 cups quick oats
1 3/4 cup flour
1 vup butter or margerine
1 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup preserves - raspberry or strawberry
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
1 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. soda

Combine all ingredients, except preserves in a large mixing bowl at low speed until mixture is crublyl. Reserve 2 cups of mixture. Press remaining mixture onto bottom of greaed 9x13 inch baking pan. Spread preserves evenly over base; sprinkle with reserve mixture. Bake in preheated hot oven (400 degrees) 25 - 30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool, but into squares.
