Biscuits Supreme with Sawmill Gravy Recipe

Ingredients

	2 cups all-purpose flour
	1 tablespoon baking powder
	2 teaspoons sugar
	1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
	1/4 teaspoon salt
	1/2 cup frozen butter or margarine
	2/3 cup milk
	1/4 teaspoon salt
	4 sausage patties

	1/4 cup all-purpose flour
	2 cups milk


Instructions


For the Biscuits Supreme- (1.) Mix together the 2 cups of flour, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar, and salt in a large bowl. (2.) Then take the frozen butter and cube. Mix the butter cubes into the dry goods and mix until it resembles coarse cornmeal. (3.) Then pour the 2/3 cup milk to the dry ingredients,mix, and knead until not sticky anymore. Then roll out at a 1/2 inch thickness and cut out with a biscuit cutter and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. (4.) Bake the biscuits in a 450 degree oven for 10-12 minutes or until golden. Finally remove biscuits from the parchment paper and serve hot.


For the Sawmill Gravy- (1.) Cook the sausage patties on a cast iron skillet and drain on paper towels crumble one of the sausage patties into little bits. (2.) Then bring the pan with the sausage drippings to medium high heat and place the 1/4 cup flour and stir with wooden spoon to make a roux. Then slowly add 2 cups of milk stirring with a wisk(NOTE- You will not need all the milk and it's better to have thick gravy that needs thinning than the other way around.) (3.)Once the gravy gets smooth reduce the heat to medium low and add the crumbled sausage. Taste and add salt and pepper if desired.


For plating cut your biscuits in half and add one of the sausage links and pour some of the gravy on top and serve immediatly.
