     Pumpkin Cake

2 2/3 cups sugar
1 cup butter
4 eggs - separated
1 small can pumpkin
3 cups flour
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp allspice

Cream sugar and butter well. Add eggs yolks and beat. Add pumpkin, spices, vanilla, salt, baking powder and soda and beat well. Add flour one cup at a time, mixing well between cups. Beat egg whites very stiff and fold into pumpkin mixture. Plunk in a bundt pan that has been greased. Bake for approximately 1 hour or until springs back when touched. Frost with powdered sugar mixed with 1 to 2 tsp of mapleine or maple flavoring with a little milk. Should be rather thick. Drizzle on top of barely warm cake. Heat frosting 15-20 seconds in microwave to drizzle over cake. Yummy!
