Cream sugar and butter well. Add eggs yolks and beat. Add pumpkin, spices, vanilla, salt, baking powder and soda and beat well. Add flour one cup at a time, mixing well between cups. Beat egg whites very stiff and fold into pumpkin mixture. Plunk in a bundt pan that has been greased. Bake for approximately 1 hour or until springs back when touched.
Frost with powdered sugar mixed with 1 to 2 tsp of mapleine or maple flavoring with a little milk. Should be rather thick. Drizzle on top of barely warm cake.
Heat frosting 15-20 seconds in microwave to drizzle over cake.
