     Pastitso (Greek Lasagna) - MEAT - START HERE

Preptime   4 hours (total)

Ingredients
1 Onion
3 Tbsp. Butter or olive oil
1 Lb. Ground Beef or Lamb, lean
1 Clove Garlic, minced
1/2 C red wine
1/2 C tomato sauce
1 small can tomato paste
1 Cinnamon stick (1/4 t. cinnamon)
1 Bay leaf
 
salt and pepper to taste
1 tsp. oregano
2 C water

Instructions
Saute meat and onions until meat is brown and onions are soft. Add remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer 3 hours until sauce is thick. Stir Occasionally.
GO TO PART TWO -- WHITE SAUCE...
