     Red Velvet Cake

1/2 cup butter
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 tbsp cocoa
2oz red food coloring
2 1/2 cups cake flour
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vinegar
1 cup milk
5 tbsp flour
1cup sugar
1/2 cup crisco
1/2 cup margarine

CAKE Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Then cream together the butter, vanilla, and sugar. Once that is done beat in the eggs. In a seperate bowl mix the cocoa and red food coloring. Add cocoa mixture to the batter. Alternately add cake flour and buttermilk until completely mixed in. Finally fold in the baking soda and vinegar.
Grease a 13 by 9 cake pan and pour batter in. Cook for 30mins or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool cake on a wire rack for 30mins or until cool to the touch, then frost.
FROSTING Combine Milk and flour in a saucepan, mix until well blended. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is smooth and has thickened. Remove from heat and cool completely. In a large mixing bowl combine, sugar, crisco, and margarine. Beat with a hand mixer at highest speed for 10 minutes, occasionaly scraping the sides of the bowl. Beat in cooled flour and milk mixture gradullay, beat until stid. Add 1 tbsp vanilla and mix in.
