1 c. flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
6 tbsp sugar
1/4 lb butter
1 egg
1/4 c. milk
4 c. peeled, sliced apples
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 c. jelly currant (optional)

Sift flour, salt, baking powder and 3 tbsp sugar. Work in half of the butter.
Beat in egg and milk, making a dough. Pat into buttered 12x8 pan.
Cover dough with apples, sprinkle with 3 tbsp sugar and the cinnamon. Pour over melted butter.
Bake at 400 for 35 minutes (brush with melted jelly if you want).
Serving Suggestions
Serve hot!
