4 c. cake flour (not self-rising)
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. - 1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tbsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. freshly grated nutmeg
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
2 sticks unsalted butter, room temp.
2 1/2 c. light brown sugar
4 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
1 1/2 c. canned pumpkin (not pie filling)

Preheat oven to 350. Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and spices. With mixer on medium cream butter and brown sugar.
Add eggs, one at a time. Speed on low, add flour mixture in 3 batches, alternating with 2 additions buttermilk. Add pumpkin.
Bake 15-18 min, rotating half-way through.
