     Black Forrest Trifle

Category   Desserts - Breads
Sub Category   None

Ingredients
1 cooled chocolate cake (from scratch or a box)
2 cans cherry pie filling
1 tub whipped topping
2 packages of cooked chocolate pudding
1/4 cup cherry flavored liqueur

Instructions
Bake your cake. When your cake is cool poke holes in it using a wooden spoon or a skewer. Be generous with the holes this is where the liqueur is going to be absorbed. Next drizzle the cherry liqueur over the cake and let it sit over night. Now cook your 2 packages of chocolate pudding according to the directions on the box, let this cool completely. I do this the night before also.
When the cake is finished soaking cut it into strips, make the about 1/2 inch in thickness. I usually cut the cake into two sections length wise and then just cut continually along the width of the cake.
Now to assemble it. Use a deep, clear glass bowl if possible and start layering your ingredients. Put on layer on the bottom of the soaked cake, then a layer of cherry pie filling (this is usually one can), then a layer of pudding (1/2 the pot). Repeat each layer again. Top with whipped cream, shaved chocolate, and cherries.
