Heat 1 teaspoon of oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic; cook until softened, about 2 minutes.
Combine the garlic, lentils, mashed potatoes, broth, breadcrumbs, herbs, salt and pepper to tasted in a large bowl. Mash with a potato masher until smooth.
heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil in the same skillet over medium- hig heat. Form the lentil mixture into 4 patties. Cook until browned, turningcarefully, about 5 minutes per side.
