     Aunt Maureen's Sugar Cookies

  coffee or tea

3 cups confectionary sugar
2 cups butter (softened to room temperature)
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp almond extract
5 cups of flour
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cream of tartar

Cut butter into smaller pieces and add to mixing bowl. Start creaming the butter and gradually adding in the confectionary sugar until creamed. Add the rest of the wet ingredients to the mixing bowl (eggs, vanilla extract, almond extract). In a separate mixing bowl sift the dry ingredients together and blend in the bowl. Gradually add the dry ingredients in the wet ingredients (in 2-3 parts). ONce dough is formed separate into 4 rolls and place spereately in wax paper and place in the refrigerator for 2- 3 hours. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes. They make take a few minutes more.
