     Temprendola Sisters Sauce & Meatballs

Ingredients
1 lb. Hamburg
1 lb. Ground Pork
1/2 Large yellow onion
5 Garlic cloves
1 Egg
1 Cup Italian bread crumbs
2 Slices white bread
3 Pints ground Romano pecorino cheese-don't skimp
2 Small cans Contadina brand tomato paste
 
2 Large cans Contadina brand tomato sauce
5 Cloves
3 Or more cups water
Salt and pepper to taste
If desired, small cuts of pork and/or Italian sausage link
Possibly other secret ingredients the “Aunts” used, but we will never know

Instructions
Chop-dice onion and garlic into small pieces. Water bread slices and break into small pieces. Mix all, but tomato sauce/paste, water and cloves. Form meatballs not to big, not to small. Brown meatballs in pan with olive oil, crisp on outside, raw in middle. In big pot, mix tomato sauce/paste and water. You will know ratio. Allow for some reduction during cooking process. Add browned meatballs, clove and, if desired, pork and sausage. Cook over low heat for 8-12 hours, stirring occasionally. Serve over freshly made macaroni. Add more ground Romano or Parmesan cheese topping.
