     Sauerkraut Casserole

Ingredients
1 pound mild Italian sausage link, cut into 1-inch slices
1 large onion, chopped
2 apples, peeled and quartered
1 can (27 ounces) sauerkraut, undrained
1 cup water
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 tsp caraway seed
Snipped parsley, optional
 

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a skillet, cook sausage and onion until sausage is brown and onion is tender; drain. Stir in apples, sauerkraut, water, brown sugar and caraway seed; mix well. Transfer to a 2 1/2 quart baking dish. Cover and bake 1 hour. Garnish with parsley if desired.
