Preheat the oven to 350F. Coat a baking sheet with 1 Tbl. of the oil.
Heat the remaining 1 Tbl. oil in a small skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and saute until softened, about 2 minutes.
Combine the lentils, mashed potato, broth, breadcrumbs, chives, parsley, oregano and basil in a large bowl. Add the sauteed garlic and any oil left in the skillet. Season with salt and pepper, mash everything with a fork until smooth.
Form this dough into 4 medium or 6 small 1/2-inch thick patties. Place on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, turning patties halfway through cooking time.
Serve on whole grain buns with lettuce and tomato or over steamed greens.
