Preheat oven to 325.
In a large mixing bow, cream butter, sugar and vanilla. Beat in eggs.
In a separate bowl, combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and baking soda.
Blend flour mixture into butter mixture alternately with sour cream. Pour into a greased 9x5 loaf pan. Bake 1 hour and 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. cool 10 minutes in pan , remove from pan and cool completely.
