     Joanne's Bean Soup

Ingredients
2 lb small navy beans
4 qts hot water
1 1/4 lb smoked ham hocks
1 med chopped onion
salt and pepper to taste
 

Instructions
Combine beans, hot water and ham hocks. Cover and boil for 3 hours. Braise onion in butter. When light brown, add to soup. Season with salt and pepper.
