1. Beat butter and sugar until smooth.
2. Add the egg and beat well.
3. Add vanilla.
4. Gradually add sifted flour and salt.
5. Beat into a stiff paste.
6. Take small pieces of mixture and roll into balls.
7. Place on a greased tray.
8. Make a hollow in each biscuit with the floured end of a
wooden spoon.
9. Place a little Jam in each biscuit.
10. Bake in a moderate oven (200-220 C) until golden brown.
