Peel and cut apples into one fourth square slices, enough to make 4 cups. Butter a baking dish, add the apples and pour over them 1/2 cup of water with 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Work together 1 cup of sugar, 3/4 cup flour, 1/2 cup butter until crumbly. Spread over apples and serve this warm.
