Put a slice of onion in each jar, 1 clove of garlic, and some dill, slice cucumbers in jar.
1 pint of water to 1 quart of vinegar, 1/2 cup coarse salt, 2 1/2 cups of sugar and a little alum. Bring to a boil and pour over pickles.
