     Gingerbread Cake

Ingredients
1/2 C sugar
1/2 C butter
1 egg
1 C molasses
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 C flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
 
1/2 tsp. powdered cloves
1 C very hot water
bananas and whipped cream, optional

Instructions
Cream sugar and butter well. Add egg and molasses. Beat well. Sift dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture. Add hot water and beat until smooth. (Batter will be thin.) Bake in a 9x13 pan at 350 for about 40 minutes or until done. Serve hot or cold.
