2 cans chopped tomatos
3 cans tomato sauce (i use the ones that have the basil and garlic put in)
2 cans tomato paste
4 whole tomatos
1 medium onion
4 cloves of garlic
olive oil
1/2 cup of sugar (do not substitute)

In a large stockpot, drizzle a little olive oil (about 1 tablespoon). Add your cans to tomatos and stir. Simmer over low heat. Chop your onions and garlic and sweat them in a skillet with a pat of butter. Chop your whole tomatos and add them to the onion garlic mixture. Add this to your tomato sauce. Add about 1 tablespoon of your spices to the sauce and simmer for about 20 min. Add the sugar and then simmer for another 30 min, stirring every once and awhile.
You can add meat to this if you like when it is done simmering. Usually, I jar this since it makes quite a bit.
