     Wine Poached Pears

Ingredients
6 peeled pears
1 bottle of fruity red wine
1 stick of cinnamon
1-2 star anise
pinch of nutmeg
zest and juice of 1 lemon
500 ml mascarpone cheese
zest of 1 lemon and 1 lime
1/2 cup icing sugar
 

Instructions
Place peeled pears in saucepot. Cover pears with wine. Add cinnamon, star anise, nutmeg, and juice/zest lemon. Bring to boil then simmer until pears are soft but not mushy. Remove pears from wine. Boil remaining wine until the sauce coats the back of a spoon (about 10 minutes).
Combine Mascarpone, zest of lemon and lime and icing sugar. Place Mascarpone mixture on bottom of plate (base for pears), place pear standing. Drizzle reduced wine mixture over pear.
