     Mulligatawny soup

Ingredients
one half to three fourths cup of yellow split peas or Toovar Dal
3 Tbl oil
2 onions chopped
2 cloves of garlic minced
one half inch fresh ginger peeled and grated
about one half teaspoon Turmeric
1 big or 2 med carrots peeled and chopped
about 6 or 7 cups of water
2 chopped tomatoes
 
1 to 2 teaspoons curry powder
one fourth teaspoon black pepper
salt to taste
2 Tbl finely chopped cilantro or parsley
one half or more cup/s of coconut cream

Instructions
Saute onions,garlic,ginger,turmeric,carrot. Add water, Dal, after rinsing and checking, tomatoes, curry and pepper. Simmer for about 35 mins or until dal is soft. Blenderize and then add coconut cream salt and Cilantro and simmer for a few more mins.
Per serving there are about 200 calories, 1 gram protein, 19 grams carbs, 11 grams fat, 15 grams cholesterol and 7 grams fiber
